Sunday's racing

Frankie was racing at Northampton this afternoon, and was playing his joker so that he gets double points. This was a good choice, as he did very well indeed, despite the appalling weather!
Frankie won the first heat, Andy came 5th in his heat, and when they both came together in the 3rd heat, Frankie showed Andy who was boss- he won this heat too, with Andy in 2nd place!
The weather was horrible all afternoon - heavy showers, interspersed with drizzle and the occasional ray of sunshine. Bev and Paul were warm and cosy in their waterproof gear and sitting under the fishing umbrella, but the poor drivers got showered with water from the spray and the big puddles on the track.
Anyway, the final was raced in gruesome weather. We feel that Andy jumped the start, and he was ahead of Frankie before the green flag was waved, but Frankie managed to keep up with Andy, despite hitting surface water at about 80mph, which resulted in his car coming sideways down the straight stretch of the track and him almost losing control on the corner. Frankie came in a very creditable 3rd, Andy was 2nd and Rob Cowley was 1st. Frankie was on the pace again in the Grand National, and won it with Andy in second place.
So, for a meeting where he was getting double points, Frankie did very well and Bev came home a happy person (in total contrast to the grumpy person she was on Friday evening).
A great, if wet, day was had by all. Go Frankie Go - you can retain the National Points Championship - we know you can do it!
