Scary Weather!

Yup, it's that time of week when we visit Waitrose, and this time we didn't find any scary shoppers but we were trapped in the store by a torrential downpour!  Unluckily for us, Waitrose don't sell inflatable boats - one would have come useful today to get us back to the car!
So, what is it with Waitrose in Hitchin?  Either the customers are scary or the weather is like a biblical disaster. And what next?  A plague of locusts or the 4 horsemen of the Apocalypse?  We are convinced that Waitrose exists in an alternative universe - the Waitrose triangle - where anything can and does happen!
The scariest thing for most shoppers is a rescan to make sure they haven't added an extra packet of hobnobs to their basket without paying for it, but we regularly experience scary shoppers and now strange weather systems that wouldn't look out of place in a horror movie!
How could we have known that a mundane job like shopping at Waitrose could be so scary and exciting - roll on next weekend for the next instalment of the Waitrose triangle!

Eek, Two Scary Shoppers!

Waitrose is turning out to be a great place for people watching, and more precisely for spotting scary shoppers!  Today's collection of weird shoppers included:

  • a man with an Asbo tag round his ankle (very scary)
  • an old man wearing an iPod and singing at the top of his little voice - kinda sweet but still very scary!
I wonder what we will see next week?????

Eek, scary shopper!

Ok, so we were doing our shopping in our local Waitrose last weekend, with Bill, Tony and I chasing each other up and down the aisles and popping additional food items into people's trolleys when we spotted a very scary shopper!  Eeek, it was a shopper in their jim jams and furry slippers!  And it's not as if he just stepped out of his car and nipped into the shop - he walked there from home (wherever that is)!  He was very scary - even scarier than the man wearing the utility kilt, Doc Martens' boots and facial piercings!  Who would have thought you would see such interesting sights in Waitrose?

Waitrose shopping - no Billy Bear meat for our sandwiches!

Well, we bears have to say that we are very disappointed in Waitrose - we walked all the way from the farm to get some Billy Bear meat (see photograph below) for our sandwiches, but they didn't have any :-(

Shame on you, Waitrose - you have disappointed four bears and a chimp, who were looking forward to a picnic of luncheon meat sandwiches, cider and cakes!

Despite the lack of Billy Bear meat, we were very impressed by the range of other delicacies, including Waitrose's dry cider (it comes highly recommended by us bears), tasty meats and scrummy fresh bread!  Paws crossed for nice weather tomorrow so that we can fill Tony's rucksack up with our goodies and head off across the fields for our picnic!
