Recently, we have been lucky enough to see a night-time visitor to our garden - a large hedgehog, who snuffles around the trees and bushes in the garden as well as eating spilled sunflower seeds at the base of the bird feeders. Last night we looked out to see if it was there and spotted not one dark shape in the garden, but two! We immediately thought we were seeing double after consuming too many cans of the amber nectar, but no, there were were indeed two hedgehogs. They spent quite a while eating up bird seed and checking out the garden for tasty insects, then they moved into the dark shadows near the fence and were gone.
So, we rather like our nightime visitors - they have black beady eyes, long snuffly noses and look rather cute, though they are definitely NOT cuddly!
