Herne Bay, Kent

As Paul was working on Saturday and it was a glorious day, we all decided to go with him and have a picnic by the seaside.  He had a job to do in Sittingbourne and when he was finished, we headed off along the coast to Herne Bay.  Once there, we found a quiet spot high above the town with wonderful views out to sea - the views were actually quite pretty despite the wrecked-end-of-the-pier, a large wind farm, container ships and what we thought were gas platforms but were actually Maunsell Forts designed to protect the coast during WWII.  They looked kinda spooky, like invading Martians!

After our picnic, we had a walk along the sea front and watched people sailing yachts, racing speedboats and riding jet skis.  Speedboats don't usually excite us bears, but there was a very impressive speedboat with a chevvy or dodge engine that sounded just like a F1 Stock Car!  The only problem was that the engine was so powerful that it had to be refuelled every couple of trips across the bay,  but it sounded beautiful.

What a lovely day we all had and our picnic was yummy!
