Pretty Southwold!

As the weather was glorious, Bev and Paul decided to have a day at the seaside.  Bev fancied visiting Southwold, as she had heard it was very pretty, so off they headed using the navigation device to get there.  So, imagine their surprise when the navigation device told them they had reached their destination and they were in the middle of the countryside!  Yup, silly old Bev wasn't wearing her glasses when she selected the destination so had asked the navigation device to take them to Southwood, not Southwold!  Doh!  Luckily, Southwood is only 30 miles from Southwold, but the whole journey took 3 hours instead of 2 because of a detour through Lowestoft!

Anyway, Southwold was very pretty and it was a glorious day with plenty of warm sunshine.  We particularly liked the pretty beach huts painted in a variety of pastel and bright colours.  Apparently, these huts are so popular they can change hands for up to £50,000!
Southwold has a very pretty, privately-run pier - this is a delight as it has none of the usual tacky tourist stuff such as amusement arcades and fast-food outlets.  Instead, it has a range of shops selling quality products and delightful coffee shops.  We were very impressed!

Bill, Tony, Phoebe and myself had a fabulous day playing on the beach, building sand castles, jumping in and out of the waves, and eating far too much ice cream, while Bev and Paul relaxed and took photographs.  Our verdict on the day?  Brilliant fun!
