We had yet another beautiful day for the racing, though this time it was at Kings Lynn and it was in the evening, so once the sun went down it got bloomin' cold! Anyway, I am supposed to be a cub reporter updating you on the racing action, not giving you a weather report - if you wanted to know the weather forecast, Phoebe the weather girl could give you that! No Phoebe, don't hit me - ouch!
Ok, back to the racing - Frankie was playing his joker for double points but he had to contend with the Smith brothers as well as all the other drivers. So, how did Frankie get on? Did he win, did he get pushed out? Read on....
Frankie came 6th in heat 2, 9th in heat 3 (he got pushed out by Timmy Aldridge) and then he came out for the meeting final. This was a thrilling race, though it got so nail-bitingly close that Bev could hardly watch! Frankie was third with a couple of laps to go when there was a stoppage, and in the restart Andy got caught up with another car which gave Frankie the opportunity to slip through into the lead, hotly pursued by Stuart. They were neck-and-neck round the track for the last few laps, and Stuart tried to take Frankie out on the last bend but Frankie survived to cross the finish line in 1st place! Yipee! Bev was so stressed out she had to sit down!
Frankie came 10th in the Grand National from a lap down, which was not bad at all considering how slippy the track was.
So, it was a good night for Frankie, who was a happy man!
