Well, the word on the streets that Frankie was bringing his new tarmac car to Northampton was correct. When we arrived, there was this gleaming silver machine in the pits! His whole car is painted in a stunning pearlescent silver paint, and is topped off with his silver aerofoil. The inside of the car is all new and shiny - gone is the ancient racing seat held together with duct-tape, and in its place is a beautiful blue seat emblazoned with "FWJ Racing".

Here are a couple of views of his shiny new car!

On the front of the car is a smaller aerofoil, where Frankie has listed his Points and National Series wins, with a tongue-in-cheek comment beside the year he didn't win (0 Eck).

And onto the racing on a very cold night at Northampton. Frankie's car did well in practice, then he came 4th in his heat in heavy rain. The car seemed a bit sluggish and he was having problems overtaking drivers he would normally overtake with ease. Then he came out in the final, which was a very rufty-tufty race - the rain had stopped and the track had dried out a bit. Very early on there was a huge pile-up, and Frankie got caught between two cars and seemed to damage the back of his shiny new car - something was scraping on the ground and causing a shower of sparks. Frankie pulled off and the car went back to the pits for a quick checkup before coming back out in the Grand National. Frankie and his new chariot were on form in this race, and he quickly stormed through the pack to come in 4th.
So, not Frankie's best night's racing, but we were just delighted to see his new car and to see him put it through its paces.
And how did Daniel get on? He drove very well, coming in 3rd in his heat and 10th in the final (he pulled off in the Grand National).
