Sunday was a fun but foggy day's racing at Hednesford. Bev and Paul drove us bears there early on Sunday morning - there was a little fog in the morning, but nothing that could prevent us getting safely to Hednesford. The F1 stock cars were racing along with bangers, Orca Ministox, Rebels and trucks. Both Bev and Paul love the truck racing - there are up to 8 Scania lorries on the track with beefy bumpers for full contact racing. It is awesome!
But Bev was really there to cheer on Frankie, who was back racing at the track where he had his horror crash in April. There was a good turnout of F1 stock cars and Frankie raced well in all 3 heats, coming a consistent 6th or 7th in each heat. But in the final he was in blistering form and a pileup on bend 4 allowed him to sneak through and get to the front. He raced his little socks off and was smoking his tyres as he crossed the finish line in 1st place! He was racing so fast and braking so hard on the bends that his brakes were glowing bright orange. We were delighted at his win and cheered him as he came past in the victory car.
After that, things took a downturn - the fog descended very fast, and they brought out the F1s to see if it was safe to drive, but the track conditions got a BIG thumbs down, so the rest of the racing was cancelled.
Bev discovered this morning that Frankie's tarmac car, absolutely her favourite F1 stock car ever, had its last outing at Hednesford and is being replaced by a brand new car for next year. Paws crossed the new one looks and performs as well as his current one.
