Last race meeting of the year :-(

Well, Sunday at Kings Lynn was the last meeting of the racing season, and it was a sad day for us little bears - we won't see or hear the cars again until late March 2007, which is ages away! This was better than last year's final meeting, which they held on the Saturday evening - it was so cold that Bev and Paul had to scrape the ice off the car windows after the racing as the temperature had dipped to -4 Celsius! Bill was ok, as he is a polar bear, but the rest of us had to rely on thermals and hot drinks to keep ourselves warm!
Anyway, back to Sunday afternoon, which was quite balmy in comparison to last year - 9 degrees Celsius, which was almost tropical! However, the ground in the pit area was a horrible slimy wet shale mixture, which got slatted up the cars, drivers, mechanics and spectators. The spectators got showered with it when the cars when round the corners, and you can imagine what colour Bev was by the end of the day - black nose, hair full of wet shale, generally very grubby, but we have seen worse.
Frankie's daddy turned up with Daniel and the transporter, but Frankie himself arrived later as he was trying to finish off his car for New Zealand - he arrived just in time to race. There was a good turnout of F1, F2 and ministox cars, so there was some excellent racing and the crowd were well entertained all afternoon. Frankie did quite well, coming 2nd or 3rd, Daniel raced really well in the ministox and came 2nd or 3rd just like his brother, while Gordon not only won his F2 race but broke the lap record 3 times in one heat!
And, before we knew it, the racing was over, everyone was packing up and it was time to come home (sob sob). After that, it was a speedy journey home so that we could get the humans cleaned up for work on Monday - they both had showers and washed their hair, by which point it was time for bed!
P.S. Good news about Carlos (the real Carlos, not Bev's dad) - he has NOT decided to go back to banger racing next year, but instead will be back racing in F1 Stock Cars in 2007. Way to go, Carlos!
