Fry and freeze evening

Bev and Paul looked at the dark skies and the rain pouring down the windows, and decided to go to the racing but wear their winter gear - thermals, fleeces, waterproof gear, BIG boots - despite it only being August. Anyway, half-way up the M1, the weather improved and the sun came out - doh! It was a glorious evening, so they sweltered under layers of clothing, but finally got the last laugh around 8pm when it got quite cold.
So, was the racing good? Who won the 2nd Semi-final? How did Frankie get on? Read on....
The 2nd semi-final was great fun - Andy Smith romped into the lead but no-one was interested in him, they were all following the exciting battle between Will Yarrow (22), Paul Harrison (2), Matt Newson (16) and Stuart Smith (390) for 2nd place. There was lots of pushing and shoving, clattering of bumpers and swapping places (just how stock car racing should be!), but Will held onto second place with a brilliant demonstration of stock car driving. No-one could get past him until.....Frankie came out for the final. If we thought the 2nd semi-final was exciting, this was just electrifying! Frankie was in imperious mood, stamping his authority all over this race - he overtook everyone with consummate ease and reeled-in the leading car to take the lead with two laps still to race. He was stunning! We clapped, cheered and jumped up and down on our little paws! Way to go Frankie. That was his 16th final win this year! Starting a lap down in the Grand National (his reward for winning the final), Frankie was again in electrifying form and came in 3rd.
So, will Frankie qualify for the World Final in the Consolation Final at Belle Vue and does he have to? The commentators talked as if Frankie would automatically start from the back of the pack, and he is supremely qualified to win from that position, as they pointed out. Some research is required to clarify this, so Bill and I will do that while Phoebe can be the secretary and take notes - only kidding Phoebe, I don't want a black eye! Ouch!!
