The racing at Wimbledon last night was, as Frankie would say, "superb"! Not a big turnout of cars, but the drivers who did turn up drove their socks off to entertain the crowd. However, Frankie was just in a class of his own, winning both heats and the final, plus coming 4th in the Grand National. He also had a head-to-head with Carl Boardley, the Hot Rod World Champion. They had to drive 6 laps in each other's cars (going the opposite way round the track from the way they normally face) to find out who was the fastest. They started off with 6 laps in their own cars, and Carl was fractionally faster than Frankie. But when they swapped cars, Frankie was sensational in the hot rod, coming in quite a bit quicker than Carl. Great promotion for both racing formulas - well done to both of them!
The ministox were racing as well, and they were so much fun - hard to believe that they are only aged between 9 and 16. Daniel (Frankie's little brother) did quite well, coming in second in most races, and Georgia Neachell demonstrated that this sport is not just for the boys! Phoebe was cheering her on.
The stadium was lovely, with nice facilities and plenty of seating. It was our first time at Wimbledon, and we were impressed. Apparently the 2008 World Final will be at Wimbledon, so we've got it in our diaries already.
If we thought the driving at Wimbledon was scary, we still had to experience being driven back home through London by Paul. Help ma boab, it was like being in a hot rod race, with Paul 2-inches from the car in front, weaving in and out the traffic like a lunatic! Our paws were permanently over our eyes, though we did peek between our claws occasionally, but it was too scary to watch!!!!! We had to change our underpants when we got home!
Bill - we are commando bears, we don't wear underpants!
Hamish - we don't? Oh well then, I had to change my trousers. Bill - never let the facts get in the way of a good story!
