Northampton International Raceway hosted the Brisca F1 World Final on Saturday 10th September and the World Masters on Sunday 11th September. Below is a synopsis of that action-packed weekend from Hamish MacBear, your very own cub reporter and Frankie Wainman Junior fan.
Ok, the racing over both days was of a very high standard - fast, furious, testosterone-fuelled and highly entertaining.
The good - well, apart from the excellent racing, it had to be Paul Harrison winning the World Final on his 23rd attempt! Give that man a star for perseverance!
The bad - Frankie, having lead for most of the race, was knocked out by Dan Johnson! On a brighter note, Dan came in 2nd, and is definitely a driver to watch in the future.
The downright ugly - Andy Smith put the boot in (metaphorically) by ramming Frankie's already damaged car into the fence. In another episode, Stuart Smith Junior was very heavy-handed with Lee Robinson!
Two great days of racing, the weather stayed fine, and Bev & Paul enjoyed some scrummy cider. The stadium has a really good disabled area where you can sit and watch the racing. Well done to Northampton Stadium for providing this much-needed facility. Tony will be round to kick the able-bodied couple who sat in the disabled area to get a better view, depriving some genuinely disabled people from getting a space!
