As Saturday evening was going to be warm and sunny, we bundled Bev and Paul in the car and told them to drive to Birmingham so that we could watch the racing. We haven't been to much racing at all this year - Paul has been flag marshalling 4 or 5 times at Coventry, but Bev hasn't been to a single meeting yet because it has been SO cold!
Anyway, we took the car into the track and sat on the tailgate in the sunshine - it was bliss! We watched 3 formulas - F1 Stock cars, grass track cars and bangers. The racing from all 3 formulas was fast and furious, resulting in an excellent evening's entertainment.
Poor Frankie struggled the whole evening - apparently the engine in his transporter has given up the ghost, so he has had to borrow Ivan Pritchard's until he can fix it. With all his time and money being spent on fixing the transporter engine, he hasn't had time to finish building his new shale car, so is racing his tarmac car on both surfaces without much success. So, a great night's racing in the sunshine, but an absolutely average evening for both Frankie and Daniel. We hope Frankie can get his engine fixed and his new shale car ready for the World Final at Coventry in September. Way to go, Frankie - we know you can do it!
