Segway this way!

We all went to Milton Keynes shopping centre on Sunday, and just before the centre closed we saw a security man on a Segway - he came over to chat to us, since Paul was drooling over his mode of transport!  In case you don't know what a Segway is, here is a photograph:

It is a personal transporter, using giroscopes to keep it upright - you stand on it and move in the direction you want to go, e.g. lean forward to go forward, lean back to reverse, etc!  According to our friendly security guard, it can move at up to 18 mph and they use it to chase shoplifters and help injured or sick shoppers.  He carries a defibrillator to revive people who have stopped breathing.  We were all very impressed, though we wonder what would happen if the shoplifters get Segways too - would they have an exciting race through the shopping centre?   Anyway, we all want one, especially Paul!  It is seriously cool!
