What a fab night of racing at Northampton last night, and Frankie was in stunning form!
The weather was glorious yesterday - bright blue skies, lots of sunshine, but with temperatures struggling to get above 15C. We took our bivvy with us and some warm clothing, so we were warm and dry.
More cars turned up this week, though they were still racing 2/3 format to allow a decent number of cars in each heat. Frankie won the first heat, with Stuart Smith Jnr hot on his heels - Bev was sure Stuart would take Frankie out on the last bend but he never quite got close enough. Frankie didn't do so well in his next heat, but he was in blistering form in the final, and a stoppage about 2/3 of the way through the race saw him catch up with the leaders and take the lead with 2 laps to go. He was a happy man, smoking his tyres as he crossed the finish line in 1st place! The video is on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CDKKoAti_pE
Frankie started the Grand National a lap down in a bid to win double points, but he failed to finish in the top 10 places. But never mind, he and the other drivers entertained us all night with spectacular driving, and we also had the F2s to watch, so it was an evening packed with great racing!
