We went for a drive round the East Neuk of Fife, a trip that is highly recommended if you like quiet fishing villages, good beaches and pretty scenery. The first place we stopped at was Culross, which is a pretty and beautifully preserved 16th century village on the shores of the River Forth. We had a wander round the narrow streets and a look at the ruined abbey before driving round the Neuk of Fife to villages like Elie, Pittenweam, Anstruther and Crail. We drove back via St Andrews, which is a beautiful old university town. We were informed that it was also a golfing town (yawn), which would explain why it was full of old men in diamond jumpers, funny trousers and strange shoes :-)
Here are our photographs of Culross and Crail.
