Frankie and some other UK drivers have been racing in NZ this winter. Frankie built himself a car to NZ specifications and had it shipped over along with a transporter to New Zealand last year.
In the 240s Challenge at Rotorua, Frankie came in joint 3rd, and after a tie-breaker was placed 4th. Not a bad result for Frankie, though he no doubt would have preferred to win. He has already won the 240s twice in the past in a borrowed car.
In the 248 Global Challenge at Palmerston North, Frankie came second and Stuart Smith Jnr 3rd, with local NZ lad Kelvin Gray coming in first.
Unfortunately, Frankie will miss the NZ Championship as it is not being held until February 23rd - he needs to come home before the end of January due to work commitments. So, he will not be competing in the NZ Championship this year but hopes to mount a serious challenge in 2009. This is the one championship that he has yet to win.
Stuart Smith Jnr, John Lund, Peter Falding and Neil Scothern were also racing.
Well done to all the UK drivers out in New Zealand from us bears - you have kept us entertained at a time when there is no racing in the UK (sob sob). We even managed to watch an interview with Frankie on NZ TV via the Internet - isn't new technology wonderful!
