World Final and World Masters

We all had a brilliant time at the World Final at Kings Lynn on Saturday. Poor Bev had been nervous in case Frankie got knocked out, but she enjoyed all the racing and Frankie raced his little socks off to come in 2nd in the World Final - Stuart Smith Jnr was first and Andy Smith (Stuart's brother) was 3rd. All the races were testosterone-fuelled rufty-rufty affairs, full of shoving and pushing, crashes and roll-overs, but everyone had a great night. Added to that, there were lots of spectators, with a large contingent from Holland and some from New Zealand.

The racing finished at 11.30pm, so by the time Bev and Paul got out of the car park it was midnight, and we still had to get home, get to bed and get up in time to drive to Northampton for midday on Sunday. We were all a bit bleary-eyed the next morning, but we made it to the stadium with about an hour to spare before the racing started. We all had a wander round the pits before sitting down to watch the racing. Again, the racing was excellent, with Stuart Smith winning the World Masters. However, poor Frankie had steering problems, so had to abandon the race, but he came out in the Grand National and raced really well.

All in all, it was an excellent weekend's racing, though Bev and Paul are getting a bit too old for all this excitement and being out so late, so they were a bit wrecked by it all. We bears weren't much better, but we can sleep for the whole week to recover! Luckily, Bev and Paul are off on holiday for the rest of the week, so perhaps they will join us and sleep all week too!
