Racing at Buxton

Bev, Paul and us bears have had a couple of food-related weekends (delicious meal at Vecchia Trattoria, a lovely lunch at Pizza Express and a scrummy barbeque at Paul's brother's), so we are all feeling very full at the moment - if we eat much more our seams will start to split, and that's not just the bears I'm talking about!

Anyway, back to the main activity from this weekend, and that was driving to Buxton to support Frankie in his semi-Final. It was our first trip to Buxton, so naturally we got lost (despite having a navigation thingy in the car), but Bev finally managed to get us there using old technology - a map book and printed directions! The track is tarmac, and there was some very fast and rufty-tufty racing from the drivers. Frankie's semi was fast and furious, but he never looked to be in any serious trouble from start to finish, and romped across the finish line with a sizable gap between him and the 21 car of Mark Gilbank in 2nd place. Stuart Smith Jnr came in 3rd.

Andy Smith won the meeting final, with Frankie 2nd, and Frankie won the Grand National with Andy coming in 5th from a lap down. So, an excellent day's racing at Buxton and we are now looking forward to the World Final in September, when Frankie and Andy will be on the front row, with Andy in pole position. It will be an excellent day out. So, who will win the World Final at Kings Lynn - Smithy, Frankie, or someone else? All will be revealed in September......
