Here is the replica of John Stirk's 6-wheeled F1 Stock Car at Northampton last night. The car was raced at 3 meetings in 1977 before officials banned it, saying all stock cars had to have 4 wheels only. It was raced against 2 other replica cars last night, doing very well, and brought back memories to spectators and drivers of the beautiful sound when the cars had straight-through exhausts, unlike today when they have to have silencers (this doesn't mean that today's cars are quiet, it just means that the older cars were much noisier!).
