Bits and pieces of news from the weekend

Here are some things I forgot to mention about our fun weekend:

Firstly, Ipswich the town, not the race track. We arrived quite early in Ipswich on Saturday, so Paul drove us round the town to show us some of the water-front flats he has worked in - they are very smart, with balconies overlooking a marina full of posh yachts.

Ipswich race track is brilliant, and we spent lots of time before the racing wandering around the pits watching the cars being set up and then practising. Bev thought the racing started at 6pm, so got us there for 5pm to give us time to look round the pits, but the racing actually didn't start until 6.45 - call this woman organised or what? Doh, we had almost 2 hours to kill before the racing started, but it was just bliss - we thoroughly enjoyed the noise and smell of the cars, and it gave Bev an opportunity to drool over Frankie's car yet again - poor Dave has a hard job keeping Frankie's car shiny with her drooling over it at every opportunity! Oh, and we've just remembered that it was Ipswich raceway where we saw a mobile library van being used as a car transporter - it's a much better use of a mobile library van in our opinion, but Bev might not agree as she is a librarian.

Bev bought a very smart grey and black Frankie circuit cap from Sarah at Ipswich and she also bought two more cars for our track - the No 4 car of excellent young-gun Daniel Johnston and the gold-roofed car of Gordon Moodie, the current F2 World Champion and our Scottish hero. Our track is getting very crowded now, but Bev and Paul have fun creating crashes - it's funny how Andy Smith and John Lund always seem to end up on their sides, upside down or being towed off by a recovery vehicle - something tells me they are not Bev and Paul's favourite drivers!

On Sunday, Bev also bought another Frankie jacket from Sarah. Sarah says business has been bad this year and she may not make any more jackets, t-shirts or thongs! So, what happens when they get worn or we grow out of them? What will we wear then? Oh no, this is a disaster! We have to persuade her to keep making Frankie clothes - Paul and Bev, you will just have to buy all her stuff every week to keep her in business!
