Oh dear, poor Bev had a terrible day in Wigan last week - she had to drive there on what was possibly the wettest day in the year, with torrential rain, spray, thunder and lightening. And, to make matters worse, her navigation unit would not work all the way up the M1 and M6 to the Wigan turnoff. She managed to beat it up and make it work once she was in Wigan, and it successfully navigated her round the confusing one-way system to a car park near where she needed to be. She was slightly late for her appointment, and afterwards returned to the car park where she spotted a sign she should have seen earlier in the day - "This car park is only a public car park on Saturdays. It is a private car park from Mon - Frid." Doh! And was the car wheel-clamped? Did she have a parking ticket? Well, the answer is yes to one of those - she had a parking ticket on her windscreen (phew, at least she hadn't been wheel-clamped)!
On a cheerier note, her navigation unit worked on the way home, navigating her past Wigan pier, which up until then she thought was a figment of people's imagination - an inland pier? Never! Oh yes it does exist, because it is on a canal, and very nice it looked too.
So, back down the road she drove, not stopping for food, drink or a quick poo at the side of the road - she was stressed out and could hear a cider or two calling her from home! She should have done what we bears did - turned off the alarm and stayed in bed all day!
