Frankie and Gordon seem to be on a roll at the moment! We didn't go to Kings Lynn on Saturday evening, but apparently Frankie won a heat and the final! Go, Frankie, Go!
We went to the Sunday meeting at Hednesford, which was brilliant, despite the low turnout of cars and spectators. We sat on the grass drinking cider and watching the racing, with the result that Bev got a mucky face and burnt arms! The mucky face on a scale of 1 - 5 was around 3 - 4 (we have seen worse). The racing at Hednesford was really good, with the final being the most exciting race of all. Frankie had come 2nd in the two heats, while Stuart Smith had won one of the heats. The final was a testosterone-fuelled race between these two drivers, with them nudging each other and swapping places throughout the race to get to the front. Frankie finally spun Stuart out, but the yellow flags had come out, so Stuart started the rolling lap with Frankie close behind (must have been kinda scary). Anyway, Frankie stuck to the back of Stuart's bumper until the last bend, where he pushed him wide and shot up the straight to take the chequered flag! Great racing by the two of them - everyone really appreciated the excellent racing by all the drivers.
The excellent racing was finished off by a Grand National race - Frankie started a lap down, and came in about 7th, and Gordon also won his final wherever he was racing (we can't remember the details because we had drunk too much cider by that time!). A great day for us little bears, including Phoebe, and a great day for the humans too, and we all wore our new racewear (except Phoebe, who still refuses to wear that Frankie thong I bought her!). Paul has an excellent shirt with F1 Stockcars - 21st Century Chariot Racing on it, while Bev's is like ours - Frankie Wainman Junior, World and British Champion!
